COLLABORATION: "THE ROBOT"
This is an exciting new collaboration featuring my own silver work and the work of the wonderful polymer clay artist, Cynthia Toops. Two handmade silver bezels feature a thin channel between, which holds three freely moving stainless steel ball bearings. Silver “rivet” details (inspired by techniques like kintsugi and the idea of turning damage and imperfection into a design strength), can be found on each side. A silver tube holds the 22 inch oxidized silver chain, allowing it to slide easily. The intricate polymer clay micromosaic depicts a brightly colored robot with metallic accents on his antennae and screen. This is a one-of-a-kind art piece which will not be reproduced.
Specs:
top bezel: approx. 34.5 mm long x 21 mm wide x 4 mm thickbottom bezel: approx. 27 mm long x 21 mm wide x 4 mm thicktotal length of pendant: approx. 68 mm longtotal length with chain: hangs approx. 13.5 inches when wornA little background - Cynthia Toops is a prolific Seattle artist who works in a variety of media. She is a gifted polymer clay artist and illustrator. Cynthia and I immensely enjoy working together. We do so as often as we can, but we are both busy and these pieces are few and far between (they are extremely labor intensive, especially on Cynthia’s end) — and they are almost exclusively sold through galleries. So I’m especially excited to offer this piece on my own website.
